As of March 2018 approximately 15% of Canada’s labour force is self-employed. In 2017, Intuit projected that 45% of Canadians will be self-employed by 2020
Recent Statistics Canada information, an Intuit study, along with an older CIBC study, which drew its data from research commissioned from Statistics Canada, suggests the proportion will rise in the future. Canadians who have started new businesses in the past two years are generally more educated than the average in the population, and more educated than previous entrepreneurs.
What’s your vision?
You can’t even start to figure out how to answer your call to Self-Employment before you’ve made a clear choice about who you’re here to serve and the specific problem you’re here to solve.
Some people know from an early age what they’re here to do. Their vision is clear and they just set about doing it.
But most of us aren’t that lucky.
For most of us – we need a little help to uncover what that big vision really is, along with figuring out what the first steps are. In the next section, we’ll learn about different business structure options and outline the main idea behind your future business and how it has evolved to that point.
