Weekly Notes

Dear Parents & Guardians,

This week we have picked back up with a new section of the novel study, you should have had an opportunity to catch up last week. If you are way behind, please reach out to your teacher by email

The focus for math this week is on practice, and some word problems using the concepts we have been working on. This should allow anyone who is behind in Khan academy a bit of an opportunity to catch up.

We continue to get more regular communication directly from students, great job! Students, please continue working to keep these lines of communication open.

If you have students in both grade 6/7 classes, you may have noticed their assignments look the same. This was done intentionally to allow for collaboration between families and friends online as well as to keep it simple.

As always, please feel free to complete class projects that are not assigned this week. KidsBoost Immunity or reading on Epic are great options, we love to see your participation.

Trust your gut, adapt (change) the learning goals to meet your child’s needs. Teachers do this with your child every day. Teaching is about the learning process, not just what the end product is. Allow and encourage mistakes both for your child and yourself.

Take this opportunity to teach your child some life skills like cooking and household chores. Allow creativity and passion projects to happen. Learn something you always wanted to learn alongside your child.

Remember that PLAY is extremely important to your child at this time. Many of the activities we do at school are play-based because this is the best way for your child to learn new concepts. Allow breaks of free play during the day as well.

Online Curriculum

Further your learning online (optional):
• Epic Books for further reading: Go to login, Students/Educators tab (your class code was emailed to you) to
find lots of different books.

Weekly Fitness Challenge:

Run-walk challenge: Jog or run for two minutes, followed by walking for 30 seconds. Repeat five times. If you have a bike, find a good hill. Ride up it and coast back down five times. Don’t forget a helmet!
